Herbs for Dogs
Carob is perfectly safe for dogs and also benefits from containing vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6 as well as vitamin D, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and manganese.
A flowering, evergreen, Eastern Mediterranean shrub of the pea family, the carob tree produces a pod which, when ripened and dried, gives us carob powder, an excellent, sweet tasting cocoa substitute.
Carob contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6 as well as vitamin D, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and manganese.
Chocolate is toxic to dogs because of its cocoa content. (Cocoa powder is a key ingredient of chocolate which is toxic to dogs because it contains both caffeine and theobromine). Carob on the other hand is perfectly safe for dogs. It allows us to cook sweet, chocolate-flavoured treats for our dogs without any of the risks associated with giving a dog conventional chocolate.
