Beanie is a 13-year-old greyhound rehomed by a local couple five years ago. Typical of retired racing greyhounds, Beanie was in a sorry state when she was chosen at the rescue centre. What few teeth she had left were in a terrible condition courtesy of the sloppy, poor quality food she had been fed for much of her racing life. Her nails were long and unkempt, her coat was dull and lifeless, her eyes constantly streamed and she was nervous and anxious, particularly around other dogs.
Beanie first came to our attention when the couple asked for advice about the greyhound’s worsening arthritis. It was obvious that simply standing up was painful for her making any kind of interaction or play virtually out of the question. They couldn’t bear watching Beanie deteriorate so badly, but neither could they bear the thought of having her put to sleep despite the fact that her quality of life was becoming increasingly poor. Their vet had recommended the long-term use of anti-inflammatory steroids, but the couple were aware of the considerable side effects of such drugs and sought our advice as to a safe, healthy and natural alternative.
We had already successfully transformed the life of another of their rescue dogs, (Oscar, pictured above to the right of Beanie), with our Chicken Bone Broth, but we decided to try Beanie on our own handmade, turmeric-rich Golden Paste for Dogs. Turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. It’s a completely natural anti-inflammatory with a proven success record in treating both humans and their companion animals.
And to cut a long story short, within a fortnight, Beanie was a different dog. As can be seen in the photo above, her coat has a sheen it has never possessed before, her eyes have a sparkle the couple never witnessed before, and she is getting up and moving around with such ease, she actually wants to play for the first time in a very, very long while. All thanks to the magic of turmeric and our increasingly popular Golden Paste for Dogs.
