Homemade Dog Food & Natural Health Products

Brown rice, the less refined of the two, is more beneficial in terms of being richer in fibre and nutrients. But it is also harder to digest. So if your dog has a tummy problem such as diarrhea, brown rice might not be the best choice.

White rice however, although less nutrient-rich, is much easier to digest.

So if your dog has a tummy or digestive issue, white rice is the better option. If your dog is healthy and needs to gain weight or needs extra energy or fibre, brown rice is best.

Rice is great for emergencies or for a dog feeling under the weather. (Brown rice is more nutritious but white rice is more easily digestible). It’s a good idea to keep both in your dog’s homemade dog food pantry just in case!
